Gift Certificates!! And a bonus for you!!

Hello! Happy Hump Day! If you're like me, it's almost payday, and I know I need to get my Christmas shopping done... but it's SO cold out! I'm thinking I'll be doing some shopping online this weekend... And on that note, I'd like to invite you to save yourself the frustration of deciding what to get the people on your list this year! Photo sessions make wonderful gifts... And they can come back to you, too! (Because everyone loves to share their photos with loved ones!) Not sure what to get Grandma/Nona/Mammaw? Get her a gift certificate for a session with her grandchildren! She'll love it, she'll love you for it! Sessions can be booked at any time throughout the year, from now til Dec 31, 2011!

Photos never go out of style, and let's face it- even if someone "hates" having their picture taken, they still love to see themselves looking good in a picture. And I'd love to make that happen for the people in your life! Also, there's something in it for you! Check out the chart below for bonus certificates!

First Templates Available!!

My first couple of templates are available! These templates were created using clipping masks, and are for Photoshop! Clipping masks make adding pictures to the templates fast and easy, and the templates are in layers, so you can change things up to suit your needs! (The only thing I ask is that you not change a couple of things, then re-sell my work... That's just bad karma... lol)

Anyway, check the "Templates" page to get them! (And check back often- I'll be adding lots more!)

A million things on my mind...

I have my first full weekend off in weeks, and so much to do! I need to finish editing the football pics I did of my friend's kids, but I'm dreading that... We improvised an indoor session, due to rain & general nastiness, and the lighting and everything is just awful, so I have to do A LOT to each picture... I'm so ready for spring & sunshine already!

I have three groups of people who want photos this weekend, which is great, but with me not having a studio, it's difficult to figure out just how to do them. One family wants them in their home in front of the tree and stuff, so that's cool! But the other two, I just don't know what to do! If it would snow just a bit more, we could take some beautiful wintery pictures, but it's all splotchy and ugly here in town... Hmmmm.... I dunno... I'll figure something out, I guess!

I have also been thinking more about templates & stuff... I made some cute ones up last night for an Accordion Mini Book (from WHCC) of my cats! Here's what I came up with:

Front Cover
Inside- Front
Inside- Back

Back Cover

Example of Accordion Photo Book @ WHCC.com (not my photo)

This template can be used for any photos you wish! I can't wait to get my books ordered, so I can have some tangible samples to show my clients... The printing through this company is beautiful!

So, I guess on my agenda for today, is getting those football pics done (ugh. lol), and designing some new templates! I would love to get enough together to start selling them! :)

Testing out my mobile blogger!

New Blog... Or rather, Old Blog, New Face!

I started this blog about a billion years ago, and I'm terrible at keeping up with these things, cuz well, I'm lazy! But I really hope that this time, I can keep with it, as I might just finally have some stuff to contribute. First, a bit of background:

I've been taking pictures as long as I can remember. I was always fascinated with cameras as a child, and in fact, some of my favorite "toys" were old cameras that my Mammaw used to let me play with at her house! As a teen, I had several cameras, ranging from the good ol' 110mm to 35mm- and to be honest, I think I still have a few rolls of film from those days that needs to be developed! (Can you even get 110 developed anymore?!)
Anyway, as soon as digital cameras started making the scene, I had a couple of really crappy cheapo models, that took mediocre (albeit instant) photos, and I was thrilled! These days, I'm working with a Canon Rebel EOS T1i, and I absolutely LOVE it! (Quite a step up from my others! Although, my Kodak EasyShares were both pretty nice, too- especially my second one!)

I started my business in April of 2010, and I haven't looked back. As of now, I am in the process of figuring out the best way to set up a home studio (and where to get the money for all the goodies I keep finding that I want!), so I mainly do on-location shoots. This could be at a client's home (great for Christmas shots!), at a park, in the city, etc. I reside in Louisville, but I travel pretty much anywhere within about a 50 mile radius to do sessions. I think people photograph best when they are comfortable, and in more natural, relaxed settings, so that is what I strive to provide and capture.

I spend a lot of time on the photos in Photoshop to provide my clients not only with photos, but with beautiful works of art to treasure for a lifetime. My prices are reasonable (to be honest, I am probably WAY too low on my prices), but I am really still just getting my toes wet, so it's a fair trade- you get beautiful, inexpensive photos, and I get experience, and lots of advertising material! (With your consent, of course!)

I'm also considering flexing my designing muscles (they've been dormant for way too long!), and creating a line of templates for fellow photographers to utilize in their work as well. That's in the VERY preliminary stages, so keep an eye out!

Anyway, I guess I've rambled on long enough... Thanks for stopping by and getting to know me a bit! (And if you already know me, thanks for taking a few minutes out to read my blog!)

P.S. Here's a sample of my first template!
